ASC Counselor Practicum & Internships available!

To welcome, assess, diagnose, and treat people coming to Abundant Sun for counseling. Counseling services may be provided either in person or remotely.  A conditional counselor is primarily here to learn the art of clinical counseling in practice while receiving clinical experience and supervision for full licensure; to learn and apply the meaning-centered, spiritually aware treatment philosophy of Abundant Sun Counseling; and to grow as a person and grow the agency in the process. 

• Leading groups as part of Abundant Sun Fellowship
• Coming to Maine conferences and retreats here in Blue Hill
• Developing different aspects of a young, flexible agency

• Maintaining training and supervision requirements
• Responding to supervisor communication in a timely manner (i.e. 1-2 days)
• Willingness to engage in spiritual growth / foster spiritual growth in clients
• 5 clients seen regularly

Every employee gets a certain number of staff hours each month, based on the number of regular weekly clients they have (approximately). Biweekly clients, for the purposes of staff wages, count as “half a client”. These are scheduled sessions and every session does not need to be attended every week. You can compute using this rather simple formula:

5 weekly clients = 5 staff hours per month, 10 weekly clients = 10 staff hours per month, 15 weekly clients = 15 staff hours per month, 20 weekly clients = 20 staff hours per month, etc.

Staff hours are intended to develop both your professional identity & qualifications, as well as Abundant Sun. For your own development, hours can be used for anything that helps develop your personal professional practice - such as taking training, reading professional literature, or supervision
